Privacy Policy

Re:Disc ("we", "us") is a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling used disc golf discs. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

Who controls your data

Re:Disc is operated by Samu Tiainen, a private individual, as a non-commercial hobby project — not a registered company. For any question about this policy or your data, contact samu.tiainen@hotmail.com.

What data we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the marketplace:

  • Account data: your email address and password (or Google account info if you sign in with Google), handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
  • Profile data: username, country, city, and shipping preference, if you choose to add them.
  • Listing content: disc details, description, price, and photos you upload when selling a disc.
  • Messages: the content of conversations you have with buyers or sellers through the site.
  • Technical data: IP address and basic request logs collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.

Why we process it

  • To create and secure your account, and let you list, browse, and message about discs.
  • To let buyers and sellers contact each other about a listing.
  • To investigate reported listings or abuse and keep the marketplace usable.
  • To keep the service technically secure and prevent fraud.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. It's shared only with the service providers that run the site on our behalf:

  • Clerk — handles sign-in, passwords, and (optionally) Google OAuth.
  • Convex — hosts our application database (listings, messages, profiles).
  • Netlify — hosts the website and its logs.
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.

We do not process payments or handle shipping — transactions happen directly between buyers and sellers, so we never see your payment details.

How long we keep data

We keep your account, listing, and message data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and listings; some data may be kept briefly afterward where needed to resolve an open dispute, investigate abuse, or comply with the law.

Cookies

We currently use only strictly necessary cookies — set by Clerk to keep you signed in. Your language choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you can ask us to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.

Email samu.tiainen@hotmail.com to exercise any of these. You can also lodge a complaint with Finland's Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
